Recent Projects - Sheffield Arena

ETASound have provided a design and build package for the progressive upgrade of the PA system within the Sheffield Arena.

The Sheffield Arena was built in 1991 and accomodates audiences of upto 13500, and also holds upto 30 ice hockey games per season for the Ice hockey team 'Sheffield Steelers'

The Arena has an excellent reputation and is host to many UK based and international music tours, including more recently Metallica.

Replacement of the exsiting PA control system was undertaken over a period of a few weeks, the existing PA system control components were removed and then new Soundweb BLU80 device solution was changed over to drive the existing amplification system.

The new control system comprises 5 Soundweb BLU80 devices, 1 in the main sound control room to accept inputs from the mixing console and a further 4 in the amplification and control racks, located on the roof gantry. Each BLU80 having a differing I/O configuration and controlled from new HP based network switches; also provided by ETASound.

The system maybe configured from the 22" PC based routing system, located  in the main sound control room, where ETASound also supplied and installed a new TASCAM DM4800 digital mixing desk and meterbridge.

The existing paging microphones, message store and zone topology has also been incorporated into the screen design file for user familiarity.
